Win-win situation for Joaquim

The Congress is on the verge of losing its stranglehold over the Cuncolim civic body with Chairperson Devendrabab quitting the post following a no trust motion. But, former two-time Cuncolim MLA Joaquimbab appears set to gain with his trusted lieutenant CMC vice-chairperson Landrybab being tipped to become the new CMC chief with support of the saffron friends. Devendrabab had no option than to quit after both Landrybab and Crossybai, both Joaquimbab’s close aides in the CMC, signed on the dotted line. There’s been no love lost between Joaquimbab and the CMC Chief as ties between the two had soured post 2012 Assembly polls after Joaquimbab bit the dust in the husting. Joaquimbab, sources said, was aware of Devendrabab’s political ambitions to contest the polls on Congress ticket.  Ask Joaquimbab over the emerging political developments in Cuncolim and he says by sitting from his Varca home that Landry deserves a chance to occupy the coveted post. He appears not at all disturbed that his trusted lieutenant is set to become the new CMC chief with BJP support. On the contrary, he dares the Congmen from Cuncolim to save Devendra and stop Landry from occupying the chair. Sounds puzzling, isn’t it.
