CHIMBEL: The windshields of around 22 vehicles, including four buses, were wrecked in the residential area of Indira Nagar-Chimbel in the early hours of Friday. According to Old Goa Police, the incident took place between 2 am and 6 am and 22 vehicles were damaged.
“A NC complaint has been registered under Section 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The motive of this incident is yet to come to light and the police are now on the lookout for the unknown miscreants behind this attack,” said a police officer.
“The incident took place between 2 am and 6 am. Just the windshields of 18 vehicles and four buses were wrecked causing a total loss of approximately Rs 4 lakh. Our demand is to capture the miscreants,” Chimbel resident Abdul Rashid said.
He added, “This is a political stunt and it is not done by a single person but gangs. We do not doubt anyone but the police should do their job and capture the culprits, in the past the police department have failed to act on similar incidents which have taken place a few times,” he added.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has condemned the attack claiming it to be a political stunt. “Those people who have done this just want to terrorize the people here and polarise the votes. The miscreants who have acted had full knowledge that the PI holding the post was transferred and to our information there was no police patrolling done when this incident took place,” AAP candidate Joe Gomes said.
“For the next 8- 10 days these poor people will have no food on their tables till they repair their vehicles. This is the work of people outside Indira Nagar and is a political stunt. We give the police authorities an ultimatum of three days after which everyone will come to the streets,” he said.
