WISL workers to go on hunger strike if salaries not paid

PANJIM:
Goa Trade Confederation and Trade Union of Western Shipyard Ltd President Ajit
Singh Rane said workers of the company will go on strike if the company does
not pay the salaries of the 350 workers.

Addressing
the media, Rane said the workers have not received their salaries for the past
seven months from January 2016. He added that several meeting have been held
with the company officials as well as the local MLA and State Chief Minister
Laxmikant Parsekar.

He
said the CM had promised that this issue would be taken care of immediately and
that the salaries of the workers would be credited, but this has not happened.
He added that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has promised a consensus on the
issue within the next few days.

Revealing
their future course of action if their demands are not met, Rane said the
workers union has decided to go on a hunger strike at Sada on July 18 and 19
and if the demands are still not met, three workers will go on a fast unto
death from July 25.
