PANJIM: As over 94 per cent of the total COVID-19 active cases being reported in just ten days of April with a rising positivity rate, statistics shows how the outbreak of the infection has worsened during the current month in the State.
The State’s COVID-19 active case count stood at 3,969, with 540 new patients being added to the tally on Saturday. Of these, 3,740 new patients were added from April 1 to April 10.
What is more worrying is that, in the last 96 hours, Goa saw 2,077 new cases, which means 519.25 people on an average tested positive for the infection per day.
The month has also reported 16 COVID related fatalities while 1,311 patients have also been recovered.
The sub-urban Porvorim with 415 active cases and commercial town Margao with 386 patients, are the major hot-belts for COVID-19, followed by sub-district Ponda with 304 cases and capital city Panjim with 295 active patients.
Cortalim (231), Mapusa (212), Vasco (179), Siolim (146), Corlim (123), Chimbel (121) and Cansaulim (120) have also reported large number of active patients.
As per the Health Bulletin, of the total 2,960 samples tested, 540 have tested positive for the infection.
The recovery rate continues to move downward at 92.21 per cent as on Saturday- the day that saw 167 patients being declared cured.
Since January 29, till date, State has total 61,779 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
A total of 56,964 patients have also recovered during the period, while 846, with co-morbid conditions, have lost their lives due to the deadly infection.
