With road closure, traffic snarls galore outside Margao’s KTC Bus Stand

MARGAO: The closure of the road in front of the South Goa District Collectorate and Kadamba Bus Terminus has led to major traffic jams in the area for commuters traveling on the Margao-Panjim highway.

The road has been closed for sewerage-related work. Amongst the worst affected in the traffic jam are those who travel by KTC or private buses.

Due to the congestion, passengers of KTC shuttle buses were seen getting off the bus much before the bus could reach the KTC bus stand on Monday. Some of these irate bus passengers complained that they have to take other modes of transport from the bus stand and such delays makes life very difficult

for them. With one road closed, the other road has become two-way and the fact that it is near one of the entrances of the KTC bus stand has caused further chaos.

Those waiting to board the inter-state buses were also inconvenienced.

Locals of Margao, Mungul, Fatorda, Seraulim, Colva and Benaulim who were on this route said they hope that the work gets completed soon, before the December festive season kicks in. This highway also has another busy junction at the Old Market circle that leads to Margao, Fatorda and Colva.

Margao traffic police are seen struggling to man the flow of traffic at the

bottleneck, especially during peak hours. They stated a public notice had been issued recently about the road closure and traffic diversion.
