With stopping of COVID treatment at ESI Hospital, MTS relieved

MARGAO: Having a certificate of COVID warriors is not sufficient to earn the daily bread and hence need jobs, stated several contract multi tasking staff (MTS) relieved from the ESI Hospital, here, and now jobless.

On Thursday morning, these contract MTS gathered in front of the ESI Hospital, here, as the company has terminated their services. They have claimed that the company has not given them any intimation with regard to the discontinuation of the services.

It is pertinent to note that recently Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had assured that all the contract MTS will be given priority at the time of recruitment for the government services. They were felicitated by the government for their dedicated services during the COVID-19 pandemic period. However, now they are jobless and ESI Hospital has relieved them from the services.

Speaking to the media persons, one of the lady workers said that they don’t want the certificate of COVID warriors, as this certificate will not give them ration.

“We want a job so that we earn the livelihood. We want jobs for our daily bread,” she stated.

Another MTS urged that they want job assurance from the government.

Speaking to Herald Dr Vishwajit Faldesai, Medical Superintendent of ESI Hospital said that he is just following the procedure.

“These staff was supplied to ESI by the GMC and we have nothing to do with their services. I have relieved them from July 1 and now they have to report to the GMC,” he stated.
