PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has demanded withdrawal of all the facilities of former Minister and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik, who resigned as Minister following sex scandal allegations.
In a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Praty (BJP) government, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that the BJP government always tried to shield Naik after the allegations were levelled and now trying to give him government’s patronage. “This is unaccepted that minister who has resigned on charges of sex scandal has been provided with all the facilities given to cabinet ministers,” he said adding that the former minister was enjoying the facilities even 27 days after his resignation.
Naik resigned as a Cabinet Minister on December 15 after the GPCC president charged that he was allegedly involved in sex scandal. “How one can enjoy the government facilities when he doesn’t hold the post. They should be immediately withdrawn,” Chodankar said.
The GPCC president said that the insensitive BJP government had failed to give security and a safe environment to the womenfolk. “Instead of protecting women, BJP is protecting criminals and rapists. People of Goa will not forgive BJP for this act of hoodwinking,” he said.
Stating that Naik was misusing the power of the government, Chodankar urged Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai to immediately direct the government to withdraw the powers and facilities enjoyed by the former Minister.
