PANJIM: Vikas Parishad Mandre Chairman Ramakant Khalap on Saturday expressed displeasure, anger and anguish over the refusal of the government to approve grants-in-aid to Mandre College of Commerce and Economics that has been conducting BCom course of Goa University (GU) since 2012-13.
Khalap alleged that the government is guilty of discrimination and violation of fundamental right of equality guaranteed under the Constitution of India.
Addressing the media, Khalap said, “It pains me to inform the people of Goa that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has once again ordered that the Mandre College of Commerce and Economics shall not be paid any grants on the ground that it will invite future applications from any or all institutions which will further result in additional financial liabilities for the State government.”
Khalap said that Mandre College was set up in June 2012 and was approved on grant-in-aid basis by Parrikar and later in July 2013 the approval for grant was withdrawn.
“Parrikar and his government are guilty of mala fides, unjust discrimination and violation of fundamental right of equality guaranteed under the Constitution of India,” Khalap alleged stating that they shall fight this injustice till they succeed.
“I am sorry that Parrikar has chosen to conveniently ignore the public mood. Our sangarsh shall continue and we shall apprise the people of Goa about continued harassment and injustice being meted out to the students of Mandrem,” Khalap added.
