Without timely maintenance, eight CCTV cameras in Curti rendered defunct

PONDA: The locals of Curti have demanded that the defunct CCTV cameras in the village be repaired immediately and called for action against the contractor for not maintaining them, thus violating their agreement with the Curti-Khandepar panchayat.

Local activist Sandeep Parkar said that 28 CCTV cameras were installed across the village around two months ago, to keep tabs on people throwing garbage in the open.

However, according to Parkar, eight cameras are not functioning.

The only camera which was installed near MIBK High School, Khandepar, was removed one month back, and has not been replaced yet.

When contacted, Sarpanch Naved Tehsildar said the panchayat has already issued a show cause notice to the contractor for the defunct cameras, and assured action if cameras are not repaired.
