MARGAO: The accused in the Naresh Dourado murder case has been convicted for murder and robbery on Tuesday.
The accused Snehal Dias has been convicted under Sections 302 and 392 of IPC. The hearing on quantum of sentence will be on March 3.
Public Prosecutor Subhash Dessai examined 54 witnesses in the case including the Investigating officer PI Braz Menezes. Charges against the accused Snehal Dias were framed by the Sessions Court at Margao under Section 302 (murder) & Section 392 (robbery).
The incident had occurred in Shalom Crest building in the flat of Naresh Dourado located on second floor at Chicalim prior to 12.55 hrs midnight on August 2, 2010.
Naresh was stabbed multiple times leading to his instantaneous death. After committing the murder, Nokia mobile, lap top, hard disc, camera, foreign currency, Bose speaker, computer ram were stolen from the flat. A Chevrolet Spark car worth Rs 5 lakh belonging to the Naresh that was missing from the parking place in the basement of the building was found abandoned at Taleigao, after three days of the murder.
The complaint in this case was lodged by ex-MLA of Vasco Herculano Dourado.
