Woman Loses ₹9 Lakh Valuables in Alleged Theft Aboard Rajdhani Express in Goa

A woman from Navi Mumbai allegedly lost valuables worth around ₹9 lakh after her handbag was stolen while travelling on the Rajdhani Express through Goa, police said.

The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of July 2 between the Canacona and Balli railway stations. The victim, identified as Sita Mundadi, has lodged a complaint with the Konkan Railway Police Station.

Based on her complaint, police have registered a case against an unknown accused under Section 305(c) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to police, Mundadi was travelling from Kannur in Kerala to Thane aboard the Rajdhani Express. At around 4.45 a.m., while she was asleep near Balli railway station, an unidentified person allegedly stole the handbag from her shoulder.

The stolen handbag reportedly contained a 20-gram gold chain, an 8-gram gold pendant, a mobile phone, cash, ATM cards and other valuables. The total value of the stolen items has been estimated at approximately ₹9 lakh.

The investigation is being carried out by Sub-Inspector Viplav Vast under the supervision of Police Inspector Vikram Naik.
