Woman loses Rs 2.30 lakh after opening fake link of Aadhar-Pan linking process

VASCO: A woman from Verna lost Rs 2.30 lakh after opening a link sent by an unidentified fraudster to link her Aadhar Card and Pan Card.

According to the Verna police, the incident occurred on April 11 when a woman identified as Reana Fiona Pereira received a WhatsApp message with a link of a bank on her mobile phone number with a request to open the link and download the App so as to link her Aadhar Card with her Pan Card being the last day to link them.

Believing that the message was from an authority and to be genuine, the woman opened the link of the bank and downloaded the same and further entered details of her Aadhar, Pan and the bank account number in the said App. As soon as she completed the formalities she then came to know that her account was debited to an amount of Rs 2.30 lakh for her bank account. Realising that she has been cheated, the woman filed her complaint on May 3.
