Woman, man acquitted in separate murder cases

PANJIM, MARCH 25 Giving benefit of doubt the city Fast Track Court on Wednesday acquitted a woman who faced trial on the charge of committing murder of her sister.

Giving benefit of doubt the city Fast Track Court on Wednesday acquitted a woman who faced trial on the charge of committing murder of her sister.
The Additional Sessions Judge Vijaya D Pol ordered acquittal of Sapana alias Savita Naik of Calangute who was held on the charge of murder of her sister Poonam Pilgaonkar.
The Prosecution examined 33 witnesses in favour of the case. As per case of the prosecution on June 14, 2005, the accused committed robbery of gold ornaments belonging to her sister from her residence at Talewada, Revora in Bardez, and later murdered her.
The Court acquitted the accused of the offences under section 302 (murder) and 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) giving benefit of doubt.
Margao Reporter: The Sessions Court on Wednesday acquitted a murder accused Manguesh Mainath by giving the benefit of doubt.
Additional Sessions Judge, Dilip Gaikwad acquitted the accused for want of evidence.
The police had charged the accused for the murder of Satyavati Mainath on April 5 at Morpilla village with a koita.
