MARGAO: Unidentified persons stole a bag containing gold and other valuables worth over Rs 10.60 lakh from a woman passenger while she was travelling in Matysagangha Express train.
The incident occurred near Thivim Railway station on early Monday morning.
Vasanti Shetty along with her nephew Umesh Shetty from Thane (west) were travelling from Thane to Udupi when the theft occurred.
The bag contained gold ornaments weighing 130 grams, Rs 60,000 in cash, two mobile phone handsets and silver items and other documents amounting to Rs 10.60 lakh.
The Konkan Railway police have registered the case under section 379 of IPC and are conducting investigations.
