PANJIM: The 25-year-old woman, who went missing with her minor daughter earlier this month and was later traced in Mysore, has told the Panjim police that her husband attempted to kill her.
Veda and her three-year-old daughter Navinya had gone missing from her in-laws’ place at Dona Paula on Oct 2. Veda’s father subsequently filed a missing persons’ complaint with the Panjim police station alleging his daughter was often harassed by her husband for dowry.
In her statement to the Panjim police, Veda has charged her husband of attempting to kill her for dowry, though her family had already paid her in-laws Rs 13 lakh and 250 gms of gold. Police inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai said they are examining Veda’s statement. “We will scrutinize all aspects before adding any sections,” the PI said.
