PONDA: Griha Aadhar beneficiaries from Ponda taluka have complained that they have not received their scheme amount for months as they claimed that the government has failed to deposit the same in their bank accounts.
Most beneficiaries, especially the needy, who are dependent on the monthly scheme amount to meet their monthly expenses, have requested the government to release their amount at the earliest.
Only a few received their money in their bank accounts, but most beneficiaries claimed that they have not yet received their monthly scheme amount of Rs 1,500 for several months and are waiting for the government to deposit the same.
The women said despite waiting for four to five months, the government has not yet cleared their amount. The beneficiaries further added that they have been visiting the banks to inquire about the same but are forced to return home disappointed as the bank staff keep telling them that their money has not been deposited in their accounts.
A widow from Marcaim constituency said, “As Griha Aadhar beneficiary I have been visiting the bank at Nagueshi-Bandora for the past five-six months hoping that the government will clear my pending Griha Aadhar amount but to no avail. Many women in my village who are Griha Aadhar beneficiaries too have not received their money.”
“Following my husband’s death in 2020 I am left with no source of income. My son was 14 years old when my husband died. As a widow and eligible for pension I applied for the same with the Social Welfare Department in 2020. However, my application was rejected as the department cited the reason that I had not completed fifteen years as resident in her Residence Certificate. Following this, I made another application for the widow pension scheme in 2021 mentioning 15 years in my Residence Certificate. However this time I was told that I will be eligible for the widow pension scheme only after one year,” she said.
Senior citizens too complained of not receiving their money under Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DSSY) for nearly three months.
