Women held for soliciting customers

Alarmed over the rising number of prostitutes in Pernem taluka, Pernem Police on Thursday evening busted a sex racket at Ashvem Beach.
Pernem police arrested two women, one from Navelim and the other from Margao at about 5 pm, in this connection.
Police informed that the duo was arrested on charges of behaving indecently with the public near a hotel at Ashvem Beach.
“The women were found making lewd gestures and soliciting customers in an indecent manner near the bus stop,” informed police.
Police further informed that one of the arrested women was a minor girl, who was later sent to protective home at Merces.
A case under Section 8 of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention Act) has been registered against the duo. Police is investigating the case.
It may be recalled that about 10 days ago, Pernem Police had busted a sex racket at Malpem-Pernem and had arrested one woman and two agents, who are still in police custody at Pernem Police station.
