SANGUEM: Given the failure of the political leaders to make themselves present for the inauguration of Anganwadi constructed at Netravali village under Atal Gram Development Agency Goa, the womenfolk present at the venue together with the panchayat members inaugurated the Anganwadi premises all by themselves.
This is despite the fact that South Goa MP Narendra Savaikar, South Goa Zilla Panchayat member Navnath Naik and Ex-MLA Subhash Phaldessai whose names prominently figured on the name plate were present in the village to address a press conference on the completion of four years of Modi government at the Centre.
The politicos reportedly refused to attend the inaugural ceremony as some politicians did not like the idea of ex-MLA Subhash Phaldessai name appearing on the name plate.
Sources close to sitting MLA Prasad Gaonkar allegedly wanted the inaugural ceremony postponed as he could not make it for the day. However, the womenfolk and the panchayat members present at the venue were not aware of the happenings in the political field and under no circumstances wanted the inauguration ceremony to be postponed as they had waited this day for the last for four months.
Though the premises were completed in all respect some four months back, the premises could not be inaugurated allegedly for want of political leaders.
However, when the villagers came to know that the politicos now wanted to postpone the inauguration at the last minute to some other day despite their very presence in the village, the villagers went ahead with the inauguration ceremony by cutting the ribbon all by themselves.
The villagers claimed it is high time for the premises to be inaugurated more particularly given the fact that the new academic year has also been started and they wanted their wards to attend the Anganwadi.
