Immediately on the heels of the Herald TV story on how homeless women are vulnerable, we received a photo of this woman from Siolim who is on the streets of Panjim. The woman clad in a red sari with a golden border is seen near the Sao Tome, Lawande Electricals, Hotel Vihar, and Mermaid Garden area for the last two months. Herald TV lensman caught this woman on camera on Tuesday 28th February 2023 roaming along the road in front of Panjim Residency and behind Adil Shah’s palace moving towards the Panjim Church lane.
The woman in the red saree mumbles to herself as she roams the streets of Panjim with two sling bags. At night she sleeps near Lawande Electricals, Sao Tome area. Street Providence which runs 7 shelter homes has appealed to the police to admit the woman into one of their homes since she may be mentally challenged and extremely vulnerable. Also, the Provedoria has 8 homes where she can be admitted to secure her safety.
