Women’s Economic Forum in city from today

PANJIM: The first Women’s Economic Forum (WEF) that gets underway Thursday in Panjim, aims at bringing together women from across the globe and changing the mindset of women and the way they are perceived in the country. The event’s organizers are also looking to make it an annual event in Goa.

“We will definitely be making Goa a permanent location for the summit because we see it as (having) a conducive environment. Our philosophy is for inclusive movement to bring in harmony and peace, to love and serve all and to invite likeminded people to discuss issues that are pertaining to today’s world,” said Dr Harbeen Arora, Global chairperson of the WEF and All Ladies League (ALL).
She also called for the event to be a network for women to openly discuss issues ranging from finance and economy to creating a ‘global friendship’.
The five-day global summit will feature 130 sessions with  personalities including Shazia Ilmi, Madhur Bhandarkar, Kunal Bhal, Maneka Gandhi and Vidhya Balan as well as delegations from USA, Morocco, Pakistan, UK, Zambia, France, Poland, Canada, Philippines, Israel, Korea and Singapore.
At the end of the summit the group plans on releasing a book of recommendations and suggestions.
