PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday stated that the State government has decided to construct bridge from Betim ferry wharf to Panjim and the work will commence by May-end.
The chief minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for link road from Hero Honda Showroom to Training College at Porvorim.
Speaking further, Parrikar said the work on the bridge will be completed within one-and-half year.
Parrikar said the water situation at Assonora water treatment plant has improved considerably and normalcy will be restored within eight days.
“The link road of 1.5 kms from Hero Honda Showroom to Training College, costing Rs 3 crore, will be taken up immediately and will be completed by May 31. Once the link road is ready, traffic congestion on the highway will be reduced considerably,” said Parrikar.
“The ground at Socorro having multipurpose hall and swimming pool will be developed by spending Rs 27 crore and the work will start from April 11. It is physically and economically not possible to start all the developmental works at one time and as such the people will have to bear for some time,” added Parrikar.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said in the next phase, the work of ground and panchayat ghar will be taken up.
