During a meeting of a delegation of Chimbel residents in the wake of fatal and serious accidents at the Chimchwada-Chimbel junction on Friday, officials of National Highway Authority of India informed North Goa Collector R Menaka that they would acquire the land from a resident, who would be compensated.

At the meeting, NHAI officials informed that they have got clearance from the High Court to acquire the land of a resident for road widening work and the work would begin soon. “The resident will be rehabilitated with compensation,” the source said.
A 24-year-old youth lost his life and eight others were seriously injured in an accident involving seven vehicles including an oil tanker at Chimbel on Thursday.
