QUEPEM: Since the Cyclone Tauktae rampaged through coastal Goa, Curchorem fire station couldn’t keep the phone off the hook. The department registers 114 calls—86 in last two days and 28 on Tuesday—on cyclonic disasters from Quepem, Sanguem and Dharbandoda taluka. From May 15 the disasters management work is on for 24 hours.
According to Vishal Velip, an office staff of Curchorem Fire Station there was no casualties, but every site witnessed huge number of house damage and due to felling trees.
Further Desai estimated that people from Quepem and Curchorem incurred loss of around Rs 46,000, Sanvordem in Dharbandoda taluka around Rs 20,000 and Rivona around Rs 7000. Shantadurga temple damage would cost Rs 50,000 in repairing, said Desai.
