MARGAO: The Goa government has appointed an agency to prepare the Master Plan 2041 for Margao, Ponda and Valpoi, and the work of collecting survey plans at the grassroots’ level has already begun, said Margao MLA Digambar Kamat.
Speaking to reporters after launching developmental works at Comba-Margao, he also announced that the foundation stone for the proposed six-lane overbridge at Rawanfond will be laid on December 25.
Elaborating on the propsed Master Plan, the MLA said, “The process has already begun and the government has appointed an agency to prepare the same. Recently, we had a meeting with the officials of the concerned agency and discussed the way ahead.”
Kamat said that at the initial stage, the agency will collect the plans at the grassroots level and thereafter, a master plan will be prepared. All stakeholders will be taken into confidence during this time, he said. “I have also suggested that the agency call for a meeting with architects, engineers and other stakeholders of Margao, wherein a detailed presentation of the master plan will be put forth before them, so they can give their suggestions,” he added.
He said that the citizens of Margao will once again get to witness the Musical Fountains at Ana Fonta Garden at Pajifond very soon.
“All the tenders pertaining to the repairs and renovation have been floated and by January, the citizens of Margao will be able to enjoy the revamped Ana Fonta Garden,” he said. Kamat also said that the Ring Road at Aquem will be illuminated very soon. “CCTV cameras will be installed at the Ring Road in order to nab culprits involved in dumping of garbage on the road, and they will be punished,” he warned.
The Margao MLA said that the process of the multi-level parking project at Margao has already begun, and the agency appointed has initiated soil-testing at the proposed site. “This multi-level parking building will also have a restaurant on the highest level,” he said.
