CURCHOREM: The protection work to the road embankment cross drain and construction of road from Sodlem to Kajuwada in Morpirla in Quepem was inaugurated by Morpirla panch member Dinesh Gaonkar in the presence of Leader of Opposition and Quepem MLA Chandrakant Babu Kavalekar on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavalekar said that the 2.3-km road from Sodlem to Kajuwada which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.99 crores under the Tribal Sub Plan will cut short the distance of about 13 kms to go to Canacona from Morpirla. “At present people have to travel 17 kilometres via Cotta, Balli to go to Canacona by the National Highway road but once this road is completed it would cut the distance of about 13 kilometres to go to Canacona via main Margao-Canacona (NH) road,” informed Kavalekar and said the reality of this road will solve various difficulties faced by the local residents.
Prakash Velip, Manisha Velip, panchas, PWD Junior Engineers Rohan and Swapnil were among other dignitaries present.
