World Water Day today

PANJIM, MARCH 21 Every drop that we waste is important, that's without saying. But at the same time it has to be ensured that whatever water we use is of good quality. This is the message that will be spread across by Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network on the occasion of World Water Day on March 22 at the Mapusa Municipal Hall from 3.30 pm to 6pm.

Every drop that we waste is important, that’s without saying. But at the same time it has to be ensured that whatever water we use is of good quality. This is the message that will be spread across by Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network on the occasion of World Water Day on March 22 at the Mapusa Municipal Hall from 3.30 pm to 6pm.
As part of the concluding activity of the Consumer Rights Awareness Fortnight GOACAN will be highlighting the theme of the World Water Day, ‘Importance of water quality’ in an effort to get consumers actively involved in their neighbourhood and at village level in protecting water quality.
The speakers for the programme will include Rajendra Kerkar, environmental activist, who will speak on linkages of water conservation and quality, mining related pollution and the protection of the Mhadei river.
Miguel Braganza, Additional Director, Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI), will speak on Water, Agriculture & Food Security.
Joseph Vaz, Secretary Navelim Civic & Consumer Forum will speak on the linkages of River Sal & Saipem lake pollution, failure of sewerage treatment in housing Societies and consumer action.
The meeting will also discuss the issues of total sanitation and toilets for all,  the current water shortages in Mapusa and other towns and villages and the need for an action plan for consumers in Goa.
