PONDA: The cash-for-government-job scam took a new twist on Saturday, when the complainant Sandeep Parab, a Water Resources Department (WRD) engineer, mentioned Bhoma sarpanch Damodar Naik in his list of the intermediaries from whom he collected Rs 3.88 crore.

The list was submitted to the Mardol Police.
Sandeep stated in his complaint that the Bhoma Sarpanch collected Rs 58 lakh from six job aspirants and gave the amount to Sandeep, which he later handed over to queen-pin Deepashree Sawant.
Sarpanch Damodar Naik clarified in his statements to the Economic Offences Cell (EOC) and Mardol Police that Sandeep returned all the money after failing to provide jobs.
The Sarpanch said that Sandeep never told him who will provide the jobs, but informed that he is in touch with a person, having good contacts with a minister, without naming the latter.
It may be recalled that Sandeep, who worked as agent for collecting money for Deepashree, had filed complaint against her on Thursday, alleging that Deepashree cheated him to the tune of Rs 3.88 crore, which he had collected from 44 job aspirants with help of his intermediaries and given to her, but failed to provide jobs thereby cheating the gullible youth.
As per the list, Damodar Naik collected Rs 10 lakh from Abhijeet Naik for post of an Excise Inspector, Rs 10 lakh from Kaushik Naik for post of an Excise Sub-Inspector, Rs 20 lakh from Ruchi Naik for BDO’s post, Rs 3 lakh from Rishab Halarnkar for Sailor’s post in River Navigation Department, Rs 5 lakh from Aparna Arondekar for LDC’s post in Forest Department and Rs 10 lakh from Sufian Khan for post of Technical Assistant in PWD, which in all amounted to Rs 58 lakh.
