MARGAO: Patients visiting the Hospicio are undergoing harrowing time with the X-ray machines and CT-scan giving problem over the last few days.
While one of the X-ray machines is down and out of order, operation of the CT-Scan has been hit for want of a radiologist.
Patients informed that they are forced to opt for X-rays and CT-scans in private city-based hospitals after paying a huge cost. Hospicio authorities said they are hard pressed to attend to the growing number of patients availing X-ray facility in the hospital. “It’s natural that an X-ray machine will not meet the requirements when one of the machine is down and out of order”, remarked an official.
When Herald contacted Hospicio Medical Superintendent Dr Siona Gomes to throw light on the complaints of X-ray machine mal functioning, she said the hospital have requisitioned the faulty part of the x-ray machine, exuding confidence that part will come anytime with the authorities already placing the order.
Dr Gomes, however, said that Hospicio authorities are trying to manage the requests for X-rays with the given system. On the CT-Scan, Dr Gomes said that though the scan is in order, the absence of a radiologist has hit its operation, but has hastened to add that the hospital regularly conducts CT-scans on accident patients with head injuries.
