QUEPEM: Xeldem Panchayat inspected the alleged illegal hill cutting site at Taki Davodxet following complaints from the locals.
The panchas and along with secretary inspected the site and during the inspection sarpanch Caitan Lima confirmed the illegal hill cutting activity and informed that the owner has not obtained any permission from the panchayat or any other authority.
Former panch Milagris Menezes said “I came to know that the person responsible for illegal hill cutting said they don’t need the permission from the panchayat. Who has given such persons the right to carry out such illegalities?”
Deputy sarpanch Maria Fernandes said, “Each time when such incidents occur people blame the panchas and the MLA which is not true. In our panchayat we work as unit and don’t support any illegality.”
Panchayat secretary Ravindra Vaddikar said, “The panchayat has decided to write to the BDO, TCP, Mamlatdar, Quepem Police and Deputy Collectors informing them about the illegal hill cutting at Taki Davodxet.”
