QUEPEM: Responding swiftly to the report published in O Heraldo three days back about dangers posed to motorists due to failure to complete the drainage work at Xeldem, authorities have now started the work.
It may be recalled that work on this drainage started before the onset of mon-soons and was left incomplete causing grave risk to people.
In fact two accidents were reported at Xeldem on the Quepem-Curchorem main road due to the incomplete work. While in one case a person on a
two-wheeler was injured after collapsing in the incomplete drain, while in the other a four-wheeler and a two-wheeler were stuck for hours in the drain.
While rubble, sand and other material was dumped at the site two days after the report was published, work has now commenced and hopefully the drain will be totally constructed now.
