Yaduvanshi grilled by SIT for six hours

PANJIM: Goa’s former Principal Mines Secretary Rajiv Yaduvanshi, who is being questioned in the illegal condonation of delay case, was grilled for nearly six hours on Wednesday. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) will continue questioning him on Thursday, in what would be the 1989-batch IAS officer’s fourth round of questioning.
Yaduvanshi, who is presently Principal Health Secretary in the Delhi government, was posted as Goa’s Principal Mines Secretary between 2006 and 2011 when the alleged illegal mining continued unabated.
The findings of the Justice M B Shah Commission report alleged that bureaucrats and politicians were responsible for allowing large scale illegal mining to continue despite knowing the extent of the illegalities in the period from 2006 to 2011. This was the period when the Congress-led coalition government was in power.
