PANJIM: After nearly five hours of questioning on Friday, Goa’s former principal mines secretary, Rajeev Yaduvanshi, was again grilled for two hours on Saturday regarding the mining scam.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday quizzed him regarding another mining offence with his further questioning slated for November 12 and November 15, in other mining-related cases.
“The team questioned him on the illegal condonation of delay on Friday while he was summoned on Saturday in another mining scam, also under investigation by SIT. He appeared before the sleuths at 10.30am and left at around 12.30pm,” said a source.
The questioning next Wednesday will pertain to the main mining case, wherein former chief minister Digambar Kamat, several mining traders and other mining officials, are being probed into alleged illegality across nearly 187 mining leases.
Yaduvanshi was principal mines secretary in Goa between 2006 and 2011 when the alleged illegal mining continued unabated. The Mines Department had subsequently filed police complaints.
In the Justice Shah report, bureaucrats and politicians were held responsible for allowing illegal mining to continue despite being aware of the extent of illegalities.
