PANJIM: The Meteorological Centre Goa has extended the yellow alert for two more days. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by lightening and thunder have been forecast for the next six days, for both North and South Goa from May 25 to 30. The light showers are likely to occur at a few places across Goa.
The Meteorological Centre Goa has issued thunderstorm warning accompanied with lightening and winds with speeds up to 30 to 40 kmph at isolated places over North and South Goa districts. This warning is from May 25 to 26. There is no weather warning from May 27 to 30.
In terms of weather warning for fishermen, the Meteorological Centre Goa has forecast squally weather with wind speeds between 35 to 45 kmph gusting to 55kmph along off the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, Maldives, Comorin area and adjoining the South West and West Central Arabian sea.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas from May 25 to 28.
The Meteorological Centre Goa has cautioned that there will be cloud to ground lightening, flooding of low lying area, rough sea conditions along the coast and inundation of fields. The MET Centre has also caution about poor visibility due to intense spell of rain, uprooting of trees, landslides, possibility of injury to people and cattle in open places.
Tourists and locals should avoid entering the sea, the Meteorological Centre Goa has warned.
