MARGAO: Slamming the goondagiri displayed by their fellow taxi drivers at the Mormugao Port, the members of the Yellow and Black Taxi Association, Margao appealed to the public not to confuse them with tourist taxi drivers, claiming they were ‘different’.

While addressing media persons on Friday, Association President Sandeep Arlekar also urged CM Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte to be careful when they criticise taxi drivers.

Arlekar added that they have been running a pre-paid taxi service at the Margao Railway Station since 1997 and that there have been no complaints against them since then. “We always help tourists, especially those who are in distress after missing their trains,” said Arlekar, adding that they do not try to fleece the tourists either.
