PERNEM: With the series of incidents of electrocution of linemen on duty, people of Pernem have urged the electricity department and concerned minister to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of linemen/line helpers. The raised this issue after a lineman from Pernem taluka lost his life after being electrocuted while on duty at Porvorim on Tuesday morning. The deceased electricity department lineman is identified as Ladu Arondekar.
This is the second incident in the last two months and third incident in this year where a resident of Pernem taluka has lost life while on duty. A month back, one Ladu Pednekar, a 36-year-old line helper from Keri-Pernem was electrocuted on duty at Colvale Industrial Estate.
In March 2023, Uday Naik, a lineman was electrocuted while he was on duty and succumbed to his injuries soon thereafter.
With these series of incidents, the citizens of Pernem taluka have urged the electricity department and the minister to take necessary steps for the safety of the staff.
