PANJIM: Panjim Police on Tuesday busted another online prostitution racket, rescuing two girls and arresting a pimp.
A trap was laid near a hotel in Panjim early Tuesday where Shashi Pal (22), a native of Himachal Pradesh was caught while delivering two girls for prostitution purposes.
PI Siddhant Shirodkar said the two girls, in their mid-twenties, were from Kolkata and being supplied to prospective customers.
“The two victims rescued during the raid have been lodged in the protective home at Merces,” Shirodkar said.
Pal has been arrested and placed in police custody. He is booked under Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act and Section 370 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police officials clarified that the raid was conducted keeping in mind the Supreme Court guidelines and claimed that further investigations are in progress.
