Yet to be inaugurated Baina police outpost vandalised by unknown miscreants

Outpost was intended to enhance security and also prevent illicit activities at Baina beach at night

VASCO: A police outpost set up on the Baina beach which is awaiting inauguration, has been vandalised by miscreants. Residents of Baina want the outpost to be inaugurated at the earliest for security reasons. The unknown miscreants have removed the iron grills of the police outpost. Therefore, the outpost needs to be opened to the public before further damage is done.

One to nine wards of Mormugao constituency come under the jurisdiction of Mormugao police station located at Bogda. Earlier, wards seven, eight and nine came under the jurisdiction of Vasco Police Station. But this has been changed a few years ago. If there is any untoward incident, the concerned persons have to make a call to the Mormugao police station located at Bogda to lodge a complaint. For this, they have to travel about five to six kilometres. Due to the inconvenience caused to the people and to curb the hooliganism, it was decided to set up a police outpost near Baina beach.

Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar, and Vasco Sub-Divisional Police Officer Salim Shaikh had taken the initiative to open a police post there. A head constable and four constables will work at this police outpost. All preparations have been made in this regard. If the police post is opened, it will convenience the residents of those three wards.

Social activist Xencor Polji had raised his voice and made a video about the empty bottles being thrown in this area. Commissioning of police outpost will deter those who sit on the beach at night and drink alcohol.
