MAPUSA: Yogita Chodankar was elected unopposed as deputy sarpanch of Colvale panchayat on Monday.
The post had fallen vacant since February 13 after the panchas had passed no confidence motion against former deputy sarpanch Libreta Fernandes who abstained from the meeting along with Hanumant Halarnkar and Narayan Dicholkar.
Sarpanch Shital Chodankar, panch members Supriya Kandolkar, Dashrath Bicholkar, Priyanka Bicholkar, Yogita Chodankar, Rati Varkhankar were present for the meeting.
Election officer Murari Varadkar declared Yogita as the unopposed winner since she was the sole applicant.
