MARGAO: A 25-year-old youth named Siddesh Velip, hailing from Morpirla and employed at a hotel in Benaulim, was found dead by suicide. The Colva police received information about the incident on Saturday around 12.30 pm. According to PSI Subhash Gaunkar, the deceased worked as a kitchen helper in the Benaulim hotel.
Police sources revealed that the young man had his dinner and retired to his room, where he hanged himself from the gallery. The police discovered the body and subsequently shifted it to the South Goa District Hospital for post-mortem before handing it over to the family.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and, as of now, have not found any suicide note. A case has been registered as an unnatural death under section 174 of the CrPC and further inquiries are underway.
