PANJIM: Director General of Goa Police Jaspal Singh has decided to involve young IPS officers to visit educational institutions to interact with the students, in yet another move to keep the youth of Goa away from anti-social activities while encouraging making their future bright.
“No public authority can succeed in its mandated task without the willing cooperation of community at large as the latter is the main stakeholder in maintenance of public peace and social well being of the society. In particular we should channelise the potential energy of youth and students in ensuring that they are not led astray by inimical forces. The best way to do is to guide them through career counseling and weaning them away from vices,” he said.
The DGP pointed out to young IPS officers to take the lead and set an example before the youth of Goa. These officers are asked to visit schools, colleges, community centres and panchayats to share their experiences of their journey to the coveted service of elite IPS and urge them to participate in various competitions.
“With the youth glued to digital and social media, the department has mooted the proposal to educate them about Cyber Crime and reach of social media. Therefore, the need to use it responsibly and they need to advised to first think, fact check the incident and then react.”
“Help of community leaders including elected representatives may be solicited in this regards. In next few days start it as a campaign. Pertinently, the Prime Minister of India has also laid emphasis on outreaching the youth and utilising their potential for the well being of society. Similarly, Chief Minister of Goa has also been emphasising to educate youth about cyber crime, road safety and career opportunities,” he said.
