VASCO: The Mormugao police on Wednesday arrested 23-year-old Sufiyan Irshad Shaikh, a resident of GRB Colony, Sada for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old minor and threatening her with dire consequences.
As per complaint the accused had kidnapped the girl in March this year and had later allegedly raped and threatened to kill her.
Following a complaint, the police arrested Shaikh under sections 363, 376 and 506 (ii) of IPC, sections 3, 4, 8 and 12 of POCSO Act and section 8 (2) of Goa Children’s Act. The accused was later produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC0, Vasco, who remanded him in five days police cusody.
Lady PSI VibhaVolvoikar is conducting further investigation under the guidance of Mormugao PI Alvito Rodrigues and Vikas Swami IPS (IC Mormugao) and overall guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
