PILERNE: A group of 15 youth under the banner of Sadguru Boys cleared plastic and glass littered near Audit Bhavan at Alto-Pilerne on Sunday. Most waste strewn along the roadside here comprised of beer bottles as this isolated spot is used for parties during late evenings and night. People come with alcohol beverages, sit, drink, litter and leave. There were broken bottles and other garbage strewn along the stretch.
Pilerne-Marra sarpanch Ajay Govekar and panch Karan Govekar was part of the cleanliness drive.
Karan said, “A clean and healthy environment is what we desire for the future generations. The Pilerne-Marra panchayat together with the residents strives hard to keep our environment clean and green. There are some people who do not know how to protect the environment. They have fun and dirty the surroundings. We request the citizens to please carry their garbage to the nearest dustbin available and throw it there. This small deed of yours can help us all live in a better environment”.
The glass bottles were given to the person who accepts them at a nominal rate. The other garbage collected from there was later handed over to the Pilerne-Marra panchayat to do the needful.
