MARGAO: Youth Congress is all set to stake claim for 10-15 seats for the upcoming assembly elections in Goa. The National President of Youth Congress has decided to strongly oppose ‘family raj’ and propagate on ‘One Family One Ticket’ stand of Congress in the upcoming elections.
Amarindersingh Raja Brar, the National President of the All India Youth Congress and Congress MLA in Punjab, while speaking to the press said, “We won’t allow ‘family raj’ but if it at all any such situation is faced, then, the issue will be raised strongly with Rahul Gandhi.”
Brar said there were weaknesses in Goa Congress, “but in the upcoming election family politics will not be spared and the common man who has worked on ground and is strong in actual work will be given ticket and one family will not get more than one ticket. Ticket is decided by a permanent committee on Elections and not Sonia Gandhi.”
The Youth Congress chief is in Goa to inform and take a stock of the “Hum Mein Hai Rajeev” campaign and the concluding ceremony of the same will be held in Mumbai soon. He informed that the Congress Youth wing has discussed the weak areas and are going slow and steady in strengthening the entire party.
Brar said, “Youth Congress will stake claim for 10-15 seats this election. We will not only consider Youth Congress but the people who have drifted away and want to come back.”
“The persons not working but sitting on top level in Youth Congress have to be cleared and will be replaced by their immediate heirs and this will happen by the first week of September,” he said.
When asked whether he was satisfied with the work of Youth Congress in Goa, Brar said, “It’s not that they are not working, but I feel that Youth Congress has to do more and I expect more.”
