MARGAO: Parshuram Gawas, who had attempted to murder his girlfriend by stabbing her with a knife outside South Goa District Hospital, Margao, on Tuesday morning succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where both were admitted.
Fatorda police said they have recovered the knife used by the accused to stab his girlfriend and the condition of victim girl is improving.
Police had registered a case against Parshuram under Section 307 of IPC for attempt to murder his girlfriend but since he died the case has been treated as an unnatural death.
Police said, “The accused 21-year-old Parshuram Gawas, an employee of a courier company and resident of Deulwadi-Ambadgaon, Dodamarg in Sindhudurg District, Maharashtra stabbed the victim 21-year-old Suchita Gaonkar of Maulinge, Bicholim employed as X-ray technician at District Hospital through an agency. After stabbing the victim, the accused attempted suicide.”
According to police, the incident took place between 10.15 am and 10.30 am, on Monday. The IRB constable attached to the Fatorda Police Station, who was on duty at the district hospital, on hearing some noise outside the compound, ran towards them and kicked the accused, who yet again tried to attack the injured victim. Parshuram stabbed Suchita on the neck and later self-inflicted injuries on his neck.
The Fatorda Police team rushed to the spot and started a preliminary inquiry. A forensic team was summoned and police conducted the panchanama.
Fatorda Police said, “We suspect that both the accused and the victim were in a relationship. We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the attack. Further investigation is on.”
