Youth held for scooter thefts, 3 scooters seized

VASCO: Vasco police on Saturday arrested a 19-year-old youth from Zuarinagar for allegedly stealing a scooter in Chicalim recently. They have also seized three scooters that were in his possession.
According to Vasco PI Sagar Ekoskar, a complaint was lodged by Swapni Chittor, a resident of Chicalim, that in the intervening night of February 11 and 12, unknown person/s stole his Honda Aviator scooter, which was parked in front of his bungalow.
“While HC Raju Gaonkar was investigating the case, police constable Purshottam Naik attached to Vasco police received information from his reliable sources that Stallin Shyane Redden (19), a resident of MES college residential area (old address) and native of Karnataka, who was earlier involved and even booked for theft cases, might be involved in the theft of the scooter,” said Ekoskar.
He continued, “On Friday, the accused was picked by the police when he was moving suspiciously near the SAG ground in Chicalim. We first booked him under Section 41 of CRPC. During interrogation he confessed to the theft of the scooter. He even confessed that he had committed theft of two more two-wheelers from Margao and Panjim. The three stolen scooters were kept near Dabolim Railway Station and the same were seized.”
Police have now booked Redden under Section 379 of IPC and have also obtained two-day remand of the accused. HC Gaonkar is investigating the case.
