MARGAO: Konkan Railway police solved a theft committed in the train and expect some more to be solved following the arrest of 21-year-old Sonu Kumar, a native of Jharkhand but residing at Khorlim in Goa. Sonu has already confessed to some thefts and police are investigating the same. Police have registered a case against him for stealing the hand bag of Pushpa Dixit from Mumbai on January 16, 2017 when she was travelling by the Netravati Express to Mumbai. The theft was apparently committed at Margao and Pushpa had lodged her complaint at Mumbai when she discovered that her and bag was missing.
During interrogation Sonu confessed to committing the theft and further confessed that the bag fell down as he was jumping off the compound wall near Victor hospital away from the station. KRC police contacted Margao Town Police and discovered that they had found a bag on the said date at that place.
Four bangles of Pushpa and some cash were found in the bag and hence police have registered a case against him. However, two bangles and one mobile belonging to Pushpa have not been recovered as yet.
Besides, Sonu has also confessed to having committed two thefts at the Karmali Railway Station around 15 days ago and in both cases he targeted passengers travelling by the Netravati Express. While one crime was committed on the train coming to Margao, the other was on the train departing from Margao.
Besides, police have recovered a Samsung S7H mobile from Sonu which is estimated to cost around Rs 30,000 and which is believed to have been stolen from someone. Police are presently in the process of tracing the owner of that mobile and another case is likely to be filed against Sonu once the mobile owner is traced.
