PORVORIM: A youth was injured in a scuffle at Mapusa market late Friday evening.
According to reports, the incident took place as Manoj Jaswal, Upendra Jaswal and Munna Goud were pushing a Bhelpuri cart from Canca to Mapusa.
Santosh Kalangutkar, who was riding a motorcycle, brushed against Manoj Jaswal as the cart reached near the Gandhi Chowk.
A heated argument broke out between the gadda pullers and Kalangutkar, before the matter was temporarily resolved at the site.
Some time later, Kalangutkar along with two friends confronted Manoj Jaswal at the Mapusa market and a fresh argument broke out the two groups.
Kalangutkar allegedly pulled out a knife and tried to strike Manoj, but Upendra rushed to his brother’s rescue and was injured in the process. Upendra was later moved to the Asilo hospital.
Acting on a complaint, Mapusa police arrested Kalangutkar under Section 307 IPC, while the two friends are absconding. The accused has been remanded to 13 days police custody.
