PANJIM: A 21-year-old died after being hit by a four-wheeler while he was returning from Mapusa on a motorbike, Tuesday evening.
The biker identified as Devesh Chopdekar from Betim was returning after doing some personal work at Mapusa. Police said that when he reached the Mandovi Bridge, a Tempo Traveler van with Karnataka registration KA-02-AB-0331 hit him and fled from the spot.
The victim died on the spot, apparently of brain injury. Police have registered a case of hit and run against the unidentified accused driver and search is on.
Chopdekar had reportedly celebrated his 21st birthday last Friday.
Police has flashed wireless messages across the State and has also alerted border check posts in a bid to intercept the van.
