Youth must shoulder responsibility during trying times, says CM

PANJIM: In our society there are many people who are in need of help and are suffering due to disaster,” asserted Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and urged the youth to shoulder responsibility and extend their helping hand during the trying times.

Sawant was speaking at a felicitation function organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghatan, Goa on the occasion of Guru Purnima at the Institute Menezes Braganza hall, here, on Friday.

Sawant speaking further said youth have an important role to play in building the society. In this regard, Nehru Yuva Kendra is doing yeomen service by educating youth about their responsibility towards society and nation. Those youth who have received education of personality development and have understood their role in society should come forward to discharge their duties in social field. Here is an area where Nehru Yuva Kendra is doing spectacular job. 

He appreciated all the felicities for their good work and achievement.  Social Welfare Zilla Parishad, Maharashtra Ankush Jadhav was the main speaker. 

He spoke about the importance of Nehru Yuva Kendra for all around development of youth. He said teacher has importance in our life and we cannot acquire proper guidance without teacher.

Kalidas Ghatwal in his welcome address said that the NYK strives to conduct movement for the overall development of youth. Those who were attached with NYK during their youth days are working in different fields of human welfare. 

“The youth who are affiliated to NYK have acquired personal development and emerged as responsible citizens,” he added.

The Chief Minister felicitated Dr Sarvanand Sawant Desai for achieving Ph D in social work; Gunaji Mandrekar for his countless social work towards the society and achieving National Youth Award; Dr Pankaj Sainekar for creating new world record by completing 3,730 Surya Namaskar sets/marathon in 24 hours-sunrise to sunrise on 7th international Day of Yoga on June 21, this year; Tanvesh Vengurlekar for representing as technical official (National Referee) at 68th Senior National Kabaddi Championship held at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh in April 2021; Prerana Palekar for achieving second place (Kathak dance) at National Youth Festival 2021 and Aditya Bottarkar and Rahul Gaonkar for being selected as best volunteers for the year 2020-21 (North Goa).
