Youth ‘spreading false info’ about NSUI secy

PANJIM: NSUI (Goa Congress) general secretary and spokesperson Simran Prabhu Malkarnekar has approached Goa Police accusing a Curchorem youth of morphing her image and spreading false information about her political stand on Facebook.
In her complaint to the Director General of Police and the Cyber Crime Cell on Wednesday, the student leader alleged that a youth from Curchorem had done this. “Fake messages are being forwarded in the name of DigitalIndia news. It has also outraged my modesty by morphing my face onto a body,” she said, urging action against the person.
Speaking to Herald, Malkarnekar said she has not been called for deposition till Thursday evening. She intends to lodge similar complaint with the South District police.
“I being the spokesperson and general secretary of NSUI have been defamed of meeting Amit Shah in the posts by the said person. I have filed a complaint to the Crime Branch, Cyber Cell branch in Ribandar to file an FIR against the person. This is to send a strong message to all individuals who do not know to respect their sisters on social media,” she said in a statement released to media, later.
The police are examining the case before registering an FIR, a senior officer told Herald.
